Our Grownsy Bottle Washer Pro Review

To review this new baby bottle washer, sterilizer, and dryer, we put it through our full testing process:

  • Unboxing & setup.
  • Loading & preparation.
  • Washing, sterilization, & drying.
  • Cleaning & reusing.

In our hands-on review of the new Grownsy Baby Bottle Washer Pro, we focused on whether it deserves a spot on our list of the best baby bottle washers and sterilizers!

Of course, we can't help but also compare it to our review of the Baby Brezza Bottle Washer Pro, which offers very similar capabilities.

Overall Rating

Overall, we give the Sterilizer Dryer Mini a 4.8 out of 5, which puts it ahead of most competition, including the Baby Brezza.

Take-home Message

Most people don't want to read this entire article to see what we found. So here is the summary of what we loved, and what we didn't.

✔️  Powerful washing cycle.
✔️  29 water spray jets.
✔️  Effective steam sterilization.
✔️  Reaches 210° F (99° C).
✔️  Excellent dryer cycle.
✔️  Helpful storage mode.
✔️  4 programmable modes.
✔️  Convenient quick wash mode.
✔️  Countdown timer.
✔️  Fits 4 baby bottles.
✔️  Upper and lower racks.
✔️  Fits venting systems.
✔️  Fits nipples & pacifiers.
✔️  Easy-fill water reservoir.
✔️  Easy-clean water reservoir.
✔️  Intuitive & versatile modes.
✔️  Safe auto-off lid.
✔️  Kills 99.9% of germs.
✔️  Very quiet operation.
✔️  Grippy rubber feet.
✔️  Machine washable parts.
✔️  No leaks or mess.
✔️  HEPA-filtered air.
✔️  Drains to sink.
❌  Lengthy drying.

Overall, this bottle washer has many impressive features and we truly enjoyed using it. The cavernous lower rack fits four bottles, nipples, and some accessories; the upper rack is perfect for bottle lids and other miscellaneous parts.

The modes are intuitive and, more importantly, highly effective. We were very impressed with its ability to wash, sterilize, and fully dry everything.

The only con we encountered was the lengthy drying cycle. To fully dry the bottles and accessories, there is a 55-minute drying cycle. Yes, it's lengthy - but it's also more effective at drying than any other bottle dryer we've tried, including the Baby Brezza.

Overall, coming in at a substantial discount relative to the Baby Brezza, we think this is the better purchase for most parents.

Unboxing the Bottle Washer

The sterilizer arrives in a surprisingly big box, previewing its large capacity.

Also previewed are some of the system's basic features, including automatic cleaning, sterilizing, and drying, multiple cleaning modes, and powerful rotating washer nozzles.

Unboxing it, the washer comes with all necessary parts:

  • Large main unit, with the control panel on the front.
  • Lower rack and spray arm (all pre-assembled and ready)
  • Translucent lid.
  • Upper cleaning rack.
  • Water reservoir tank & lid.
  • Drain hose.
  • Power cord.
  • 60 detergent tablets.

To assemble it, remove the owner's manual, power cord, drain hose, and detergent tablets from the water reservoir.

In the above photo, this is the rear view of the washer. On the bottom of the unit, notice the drain port outlet and power port.

In our video, we demonstrate how to set up the washer, but here's the gist:

  • Attach the angled side of the drain hose to the drain port.
  • Place the other side of the drain hose into your sink or in a bucket.
  • Secure the suction cups to ensure the drain hose doesn't move during operation.
  • Plug the power cord into the unit, and into your wall outlet.

Now we're ready to fill it with water, load in the bottles, and get started!

As expected, the system is made in China.

Loading the Grownsy EaseClean Bottle Washer Pro

We were excited to test out all of the features including washing, steam sterilization, drying, and the one-step cycle that does it all!

When you load the Grownsy, it has two racks:

Lower rack: This is the large main rack. It is designed to hold 4 baby bottles and nipples, which get positioned upside-down on four claw-shaped bottle holders. For wider bottles, the holders are flexible and expand to fit. There are also spots where you can place long venting systems, such as the ones found on Dr. Brown's bottles, which is a nice touch. There were no space issues for tall bottles, there is plenty of height between the lower rack and the bottom of the upper rack.

Upper rack: This is designed to hold 4 bottle caps, pacifiers, and any other small accessories you need washed (like bottle caps or small venting accessories).

Here's a close-up image of the lower rack:

There's a ton of space in there!

Here's a close-up image of the upper rack:

We were excited to try loading four different baby bottles and their accessories:

  • A Comotomo baby bottle, nipple, and lid.
  • A Tommee Tippee baby bottle, nipple, and lid.
  • A Chicco Duo baby bottle, nipple, and lid.
  • A Dr. Brown's Options glass baby bottle, nipple, lid, and venting mechanisms.

Will these best baby bottles fit into the system?

It was a slightly tight fit with the wide Comotomo bottle nipple, but things were generally easy to fit into the lower rack.

Looking good!

Now for the upper rack, which you simply place on top of the main unit:

Note that while we positioned the green Dr. Brown's venting base like this, we suggest flipping it upside-down so it doesn't accumulate water. Rookie move!

Now to pop the lid on, which simply rests on top:

Which Bottles & Nipples Fit?

We tried all of the best baby bottles, including:

  • Tommee Tippee Closer to Nature
  • Dr. Brown's Options (glass)
  • Comotomo
  • Chicco Duo
  • Nanobebe
  • Philips AVENT
  • Munchkin LATCH

We tried bottles in both small and larger versions, and everything fit perfectly.

Even the very tall PopYum bottles and nipples (the nipples have a large plastic ring on them, making them quite tall) fit without issue.

Overall, we thought everything fit easily into the machine, and importantly the bottles and nipples remained stable and upright during the washing, sterilization, and drying cycles.

Wash, Sterilize, and Dry Modes

The Grownsy Bottle Washer Pro has the following primary modes:

  • Fast Wash: This includes a 19-minute hot water wash and two hot water rinses. It requires 1 detergent tablet, and the water reaches a maximum of 55 degrees (C). There is a 55-minute drying time as well. Of course, you could stop the machine and pull the bottles out before they are dry.
  • Standard Wash: This includes a 29-minute hot water wash and two hot water rinses. It requires 1 detergent tablet, and the water reaches a maximum of 68 degrees (C). There is a 55-minute drying time.
  • Steam Sterilization: This includes a 10-minute sterilization. No detergent tablets are needed. The water reaches a maximum of 100 degrees (C), and there is a 55-minute drying time.
  • Storage: At the end of any of the above cycles, the system will automatically enter a 72-hour fresh air storage stage. This just means you can keep the bottles in the system for up to 72 hours in this mode, which will circulate fresh (HEPA-filtered) air.

Some important things to realize about the modes:

  • Storage is always turned on by default. You can press the storage button on the control panel to disable it (you'll see the light turn off). You can't disable the storage function until the system has started running a mode.
  • Steam sterilization can be added to the Fash Wash or Standard Wash modes, but only once a wash has started. Simply press the steam button to enable it (you'll see the light turn on).
  • There is a pause button on the front, just in case you need to pause the system for any reason. You can also raise the lid and it will automatically pause and restart when the lid is placed back on top. Be careful though, the system vents steam through the top lid so there is a risk of scalds/burns.

The front control panel screen and buttons are intuitive to use and understand. Here's a close-up:

Looking good, we love the design!

Cycle Durations

When running the full cycles, things can take quite some time.

  • Fast Wash only (no drying): 19 minutes.
  • Standard Wash only (no drying): 29 minutes.
  • Sterilize Only (no drying): 10 minutes.
  • Drying after any cycle: 55 minutes.
  • Storage: 72 hours.

The most common option for most families will likely be the Fast Wash combined with Sterilization and Drying. In total, that takes about 85 minutes.

Of course, if you need the baby bottles before they are fully dried, you can pull them out after the sterilization phase. Be careful, however, as the bottles and accessories will be very hot to the touch! Especially glass baby bottles.

Testing the Modes

We were eager to test out the features, so we loaded it up with bottles, nipples, and accessories, and ran it through the full cycles.

Here is a video showcasing how to use the Grownsy bottle washer, and our full testing:

Basic instructions to start a cycle:

  • Fill the rear water reservoir above the MIN line but below the MAX line. This takes about 2.5 liters of distilled water.
  • Make sure the drain hose is attached to the back of the system and the other end is in your sink (or in a bucket).
  • To turn the system on, press the Power button.
  • If you want to run a Fast Wash, press the Fast button.
  • If you want to run a Standard Wash, press the Standard button.
  • If you want to run Sterilization only, press the Sterilization button and turn off the Fast and Standard options.
  • If you want to add Sterilization to either a Fast or Standard Wash, simply press the Sterilization button once the Fast or Standard Wash has started.
  • If you want to turn off the Storage function, simply press the Storage button once the primary mode has started.
  • Press the "play" (start) button and you will see a countdown timer begin.

Some things to point out:

The steam vent is on top of the lid. Never place anything on top of the unit. This area is also very hot to the touch when the system is running, and can cause burns.

Do not put the system near the edge of the counter, or plug the system into a lower outlet that a child might be able to reach.

Bonus: The system does not have a dirty water tank, unlike the Baby Brezza. Instead, it conveniently discharges the used water through a drain hose. This makes clean-up so much easier because you don't need to empty a dirty water tank after each cycle. Points to the Grownsy!

We measured the temperature inside the bottle washer during the sterilization process. We weren't able to get it all the way down into the unit, but we measured just under 200 degrees (F) or 92 degrees (C), which is close to its advertised sterilization temperature of 100 degrees (C).

The system is surprisingly quiet relative to the Baby Brezza bottle washer pro, which is like having a noisy dishwasher on your counter.

We love the count-down timers to help you understand how much time remains in each cycle, and the control panel tells you which phase you're in (drying, sterilizing, storage).

At the end of the drying cycle, we opened the lid and were surprised to find everything was not only spotless but also completely dry!

If you look really closely, you'll see a couple of droplets of water on the upper right side of the tank, but that dripped off the lid rather than being left in there during drying.

Impressive, and much more effective than the Baby Brezza bottle washer pro that we tested.

Clean-up is easy. Simply use a soft damp cloth to clean the base and control panel.

For maintenance, there is a HEPA air filter on the bottom of the base, which can be rinsed under water for cleaning. It is not a HEPA filter.

The only cons we could find are:

  • The drying cycle is lengthy. It's not necessarily lengthier than other systems, but it's good to keep that in mind when you're planning your day. The good news is that the drying cycle is extremely effective, so we think it's worth the time.
  • The washer is large, which is great for fitting several bottles. However, it also takes up a lot of counter space. If you have a small kitchen or otherwise restricted counter space, you should try to find a smaller option. For example, you can check out our review of the review of the Baby Brezza Mini bottle sterilizer, though that doesn't have a wash function.

Outside of those very minor concerns, we were very impressed!

Baby Brezza Bottle Washer Pro versus Grownsy Bottle Washer Pro

These two bottle washers offer very similar capabilities and features, so it's a natural comparison to make.

Here are the advantages of the Grownsy Bottle Washer Pro, in comparison to the Baby Brezza:

  • No dirty water tank to empty. Instead, the Grownsy uses a drain hose. This does mean you need to position the Grownsy closer to your sink than the Baby Brezza, but it makes clean-up much simpler.
  • Complete drying. In our experience, the Grownsy does a slightly better job drying bottles and accessories than the Baby Brezza. This was a surprising finding given that the Baby Brezza's drying cycle is actually a bit longer than the Grownsy's.
  • Quieter washing and drying. The Grownsy has a much quieter washing cycle relative to the Baby Brezza, which sounds more like a loud dishwasher.
  • Less expensive. The Grownsy tends to be $30-50 less expensive than the Baby Brezza.

Overall, we think the Grownsy is the better bottle washer at a more favorable price. We do not have long-term reliability data for either unit; if we get any surprises, we'll edit this review.

Conclusions

We think the Grownsy Baby Bottle Washer Pro over-delivered on its promise to simplify life for busy parents. With its powerful washing cycle, effective sterilization, and thorough drying capabilities, it set new standards in convenience and performance.

The drying cycle may take a bit longer than we prefer, but the results are well worth the wait - spotless and completely dry bottles ready for the next feeding. Its spacious design, intuitive operation, and thoughtful features like HEPA-filtered air and automatic draining make it a top pick for any family.

At a competitive price point and with performance that rivals or surpasses other leading brands (including the Baby Brezza), we think the Grownsy Baby Bottle Washer Pro is a must-have for parents looking for a reliable, all-in-one solution.
