The Haivivi BubblePal is one of the most novel children's toys we have tested in years. At its core, it is a soft silicone AI companion device that attaches to a stuffed animal and lets kids have real voice conversations with an AI-powered character.

In our testing, BubblePal impressed us with its novelty, charm, and surprisingly thoughtful answers to children's questions about science, history, feelings, bedtime, and even sensitive topics such as death and what happens after people die.

Learn why we think the BubblePal is a clear indication of where AI-powered children's toys are headed.

Our Haivivi BubblePal Review

Nobody wants to read this entire article to get to the point. You've got more important things to do!

Here are our findings, right up front. Spoiler alert, we were impressed by the Haivivi BubblePal and think it is one of the most innovative AI-powered children's toys currently available!

Here is a summary of what we loved, and some things that could be improved.

✔️  Very novel AI-powered toy concept.
✔️  Cute and cuddly Positive Panda plush.
✔️  Soft, weighted stuffed animal design.

✔️  Soft silicone squeeze-to-talk button.
✔️  Free app for iOS and Android.
✔️  Setup was surprisingly easy.
✔️  App automatically detected our BubblePal.
✔️  More than 20 characters available.
✔️  Character voices and personalities vary.
✔️  Customizable child profile.
✔️  Optional behavior encouragement settings.
✔️  Built-in conversation topics.
✔️  12-month VIP subscription included.
✔️  Thoughtful, age-appropriate answers.
✔️  Great for curiosity questions.
✔️  Good for bedtime conversations.

✔️  Promising privacy and safety positioning.
❌  Requires 2.4GHz Wi-Fi.
❌  Response delay can be 10-15 seconds.
❌  Speech recognition is not perfect.
❌  Sometimes switched languages.

That's a very strong list, especially for a product category that is still in its earliest stages.

The biggest selling point is obvious: BubblePal makes a stuffed animal feel like it has come to life. Your child squeezes the soft silicone BubblePal button, asks a question, releases the button, and then the plush toy answers using the selected AI character's voice and personality.

In our testing, we had a 9-year-old girl ask BubblePal questions about science, history, feelings, family, and difficult topics such as why people die and what happens after they die. About 80% of the time, we were genuinely impressed by the responses. They were thoughtful, age-appropriate, and often more nuanced than we expected from an AI toy.

The remaining 20% of interactions were not inappropriate or concerning, but they were occasionally irrelevant. In nearly every case, that seemed to be due to speech recognition mistakes rather than poor content moderation or bad judgment by the AI.

Overall, we give the Haivivi BubblePal a 4.5 out of 5, which makes it one of the most exciting new AI toys we have tested!

Feel like an expert on the BubblePal? You should! But if you're still uncertain, continue reading to see how we reached these conclusions.

Unboxing & First Impressions

To be 100% transparent, Haivivi sent us a sample BubblePal and compensated us for hands-on testing.

The version we tested came with Positive Panda, a soft, plush, and adorable panda stuffed animal with a little bamboo stick in its hand, cute paw pads, and a pleasantly weighted filling. The BubblePal itself hangs from an adjustable lanyard around the panda's neck, but one of the coolest parts is that it can also be attached to almost any other stuffed animal.

In our tests, we unboxed the BubblePal, installed the Haivivi app, paired the device, connected it to Wi-Fi, explored the characters and customization options, and had children interact with it across several types of conversations.

The BubblePal arrived in a colorful, cute box that immediately felt appropriate for a children's toy. The packaging is bright, playful, and giftable.

Inside the box, our sample included the Positive Panda stuffed animal, BubblePal device, charging cord, owner's manual, quick-start guide, and packaging materials.

First impression: Awww! Positive Panda is adorable. The panda is soft and plush, with a sweet expression, a little stick of bamboo in its hand, cute paw pads, and a nicely weighted feel.

Second impression: This is not just a talking stuffed animal. The BubblePal is actually a small AI device on an adjustable lanyard, which means you can move it from Positive Panda to another stuffed animal your child already loves.

Third impression: The product feels more polished than we expected. The silicone BubblePal button is soft, squeezable, and child-friendly, the lanyard is easy to adjust, and the app setup process was more straightforward than we anticipated.

Overall, our first impressions were very positive.

BubblePal feels like a clever combination of three things kids already love: stuffed animals, bedtime stories, and asking endless questions about the world.

Features

The Haivivi BubblePal packs a lot of features into a small device. Here are some of the primary features, and what we learned in our testing:

  • AI-powered conversational companion toy.
  • Attaches to a stuffed animal using an adjustable lanyard.
  • Includes Positive Panda plush in the version we tested.
  • Can also be attached to many other stuffed animals.
  • Soft silicone squeeze-to-talk BubblePal button.
  • Child presses the BubblePal while talking, then releases it to receive a response.
  • Free Haivivi app available for Google Play and Apple App Store.
  • App-based device setup and Wi-Fi pairing.
  • More than 20 character options.
  • Different characters have different voices and personalities.
  • Customizable child profile, including birthday and gender.
  • Optional behaviors to encourage, such as studying, independence, curiosity, and trying new things.
  • Parents can write their own custom behavior prompts.
  • Built-in topical chats, such as global adventures, daily diary, and animal world.
  • 12-month VIP subscription included with access to the full feature set.
  • Soft glow that can create a nice nighttime ambiance.
  • Charging port on the side of the device.
  • Visual status lights, including a red glow when not connected.

Phew, that's a lot!

The most important feature is the conversational AI. BubblePal is not simply playing pre-recorded phrases. It listens to your child's question, processes it, and then responds in a way that is shaped by the character, child profile, chat history, and app settings.

That makes the toy feel much more dynamic and personalized (with memory!) than traditional talking stuffed animals.

Here is a close-up of the BubblePal attached to the Positive Panda; note that it's glowing red because it's not yet connected.

The BubblePal itself has a soft silicone button that children squeeze while talking. When they release the button, BubblePal processes the question and responds.

Here's how you push the button:

child squeezing the soft silicone button on the haivivi bubblepal to talk to the ai companion toy

That interaction is easy to learn, but it does make BubblePal feel more like a walkie-talkie than a fully natural conversation partner.

Some children will love that. Others may need a little practice before they remember to hold, speak, release, and wait.

App Setup & Wi-Fi

Setup was easier than we expected.

First, we installed the free Haivivi app. The app is available on both the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Here is what it looked like in the Google Play Store during our testing:

haivivi app listing in the google play store for setting up bubblepal ai companion toy

Once the app was installed, we needed to register for an account or log into an existing account.

haivivi app login screen where parents register for an account or log into an existing account

Next, we powered on the BubblePal by pressing and holding the small button on the back for about 3 seconds. Once powered on, the app automatically detected the BubblePal and asked if we wanted to connect.

haivivi app showing bubblepal pairing process with auto detected device ready to connect

From there, the app guided us through Wi-Fi setup.

One important note: BubblePal only connects to 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, not 5.0GHz Wi-Fi.

That is common for many smart home devices and connected toys, but it is still worth checking the compatibility with your home network before buying.

haivivi app wifi setup screen showing bubblepal supports 2.4ghz wifi but not 5ghz wifi

Most modern routers are dual-band and support both 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz networks, so this will not be an issue for most families.

But if your home router uses only a 5.0GHz band, or if your router combines both bands in a way that makes 2.4GHz setup difficult, you may need to adjust your router settings before BubblePal can connect. We did have to manually type in the name and password for our home Wi-Fi, as it didn't automatically show up on the list during setup.

Once setup was complete, the app showed that BubblePal was ready to use:

Overall, setup was relatively painless. If you have used a smart speaker, smart plug, baby monitor, or Wi-Fi-connected toy before, this will feel familiar.

The Haivivi App

The Haivivi app is a major part of the BubblePal experience.

This is where you set up the device, select characters, create a child profile, choose topics, and customize the kinds of behaviors BubblePal can encourage during conversations.

Our BubblePal included a 12-month VIP subscription, which gave us access to the full feature set, including different characters, personalities, and behavior customization options.

Characters and personalities

One of our favorite parts of the app is the character selection screen. There are more than 20 characters to choose from, each with a different look, backstory, voice, and personality.

haivivi app character selection screen showing more than 20 ai characters with different voices and personalities

Changing characters does not simply change the name of the toy.

It changes the voice and the way BubblePal interacts with your child. That adds a lot of replay value, especially for kids who enjoy role-play, storytelling, and imaginary friends.

Here is the in-depth profile for Positive Panda, the character included with our plush:

Behavior encouragement

The app also lets parents select behaviors they would like BubblePal to encourage.

These include things like urging kids to study, asking more questions to inspire curiosity, reading more stories, trying new things, and doing things independently.

You can also write your own behavior for BubblePal to encourage, which is a clever feature.

For example, a parent might ask BubblePal to gently encourage brushing teeth, trying new foods, practicing reading, being kind to siblings, or cleaning up toys.

Of course, we would not treat BubblePal as a parenting substitute or behavioral therapy tool. But as a light, playful nudge embedded in a toy your child already enjoys, this feature has real potential.

Conversation topics

The app also includes topical chats that parents or children can start manually.

Examples include global adventures, daily diary, animal world, and other themed conversation starters.

We liked this because it gives BubblePal a little more structure.

Open-ended questions are great, but some kids may not know what to ask. Built-in topics can help get the conversation started.

Daily Use & Interaction

Using BubblePal is simple.

Your child squeezes the BubblePal, asks a question or says something, releases the button, and waits for the response. The toy then answers using the selected character's voice.

In our testing, BubblePal was especially fun at bedtime.

The soft glow gave it a cozy nighttime feel, and our child enjoyed asking questions while holding the plush in bed.

Here is the soft blue glow of the BubblePal at night:

That glow is not just functional; it makes the toy feel more magical. At night, especially, BubblePal feels less like a gadget and more like a little character waking up to talk.

The battery lasted for several days of testing (using it for a couple hours per day). Charging took about 4 hours with the included charging cord.

The charging port is located on the side of the BubblePal:

Conversation Quality

This is where BubblePal surprised us the most.

We expected a cute talking toy. We did not necessarily expect thoughtful, nuanced, age-appropriate responses to real children's questions.

In our testing, a 9-year-old girl asked BubblePal questions about science, history, feelings, and sensitive topics. These included questions about why people die and what happens after they die.

Most of the time, BubblePal handled these questions very well. The responses were generally calm, thoughtful, child-appropriate, and emotionally sensitive.

It did not overreach too much, and it tended to give answers that invited curiosity rather than shutting the conversation down.

For example, with science and history questions, BubblePal often gave explanations that were simple enough for a child to understand but not so simplistic that they felt empty. With emotional topics, it usually responded in a supportive and gentle way.

That was one of the most impressive parts of the entire product.

Parents are understandably cautious about AI toys, especially when children may ask them big questions about feelings, fear, family, death, school, and friendships. Based on our testing, BubblePal generally seemed to handle those questions in a way that was appropriate for a child.

Of course, we still recommend supervision, especially for younger children. No AI toy should replace parent-child conversations, and children should always know they can come to a parent or caregiver with important questions.

But as a supplement for curiosity, storytelling, bedtime chats, and playful learning, BubblePal was much better than we expected.

Response Time & Speech Recognition

BubblePal's biggest day-to-day limitations were not about content quality. They were about speech recognition and response latency.

In our testing, the BubblePal usually took about 10-15 seconds to respond after a child finished talking. That is not forever, but it can feel long to a child who is excited and waiting for an answer.

We think BubblePal would benefit from short filler responses while the system is thinking. Something simple like "Hmm, let me think about that..." or "That's a really interesting question..." could make the waiting period feel more natural and conversational.

The other limitation was speech recognition.

Most of the time, BubblePal understood our 9-year-old tester pretty well. But when the child spoke quietly, mumbled, or asked a more complex question, the system sometimes misunderstood what she said. When we tested with a younger child, such as a 3-year-old boy with less clearly articulated speech, recognition was less reliable.

Importantly, these recognition errors did not produce scary or inappropriate responses in our testing. Instead, BubblePal would simply answer a different question than the child had actually asked, which made the response feel irrelevant.

That happened roughly 20% of the time in our testing. The other 80% of the time, responses were relevant, thoughtful, and age-appropriate.

We also encountered one unusual issue: on rare occasions, BubblePal suddenly switched to Chinese rather than staying in English. This seemed more likely after turning it off and returning to it later, especially when the phone/app was not nearby.

This was rare, but it was noticeable. Ideally, the setup process would allow parents to lock the device into a specific language and keep that language active until the parent changes it or resets the device.

Using BubblePal with Other Stuffed Animals

One of the best parts of BubblePal is that it is not permanently built into one stuffed animal.

The adjustable lanyard allows you to attach it to Positive Panda, another Haivivi character, or a stuffed animal your child already loves.

Here is a close-up of the lanyard:

close up of the adjustable lanyard used to attach haivivi bubblepal to a stuffed animal

We tried attaching BubblePal to our child's favorite stuffed dog, and it worked beautifully.

haivivi bubblepal attached to a child's favorite stuffed dog using the adjustable lanyard

This is a brilliant design choice. Many children already have a favorite stuffed animal, and BubblePal can give that existing toy a voice.

Here is our volunteer tester hugging their favorite stuffed dog with BubblePal attached:

That flexibility makes BubblePal feel more valuable than a single fixed talking plush. If your child outgrows one stuffed animal or wants a different bedtime buddy, you can simply move BubblePal to another plush.

Safety, Privacy, & Data Security

Safety and privacy are especially important for any AI-powered toy designed for children.

Haivivi positions BubblePal as a child-safe AI companion with parental consent, data security protections, content moderation, and compliance with privacy regulations such as COPPA and GDPR.

According to Haivivi's own safety and compliance materials, the company emphasizes four main safeguards:

  • Parental consent: obtaining explicit parental consent for data collection and usage.
  • Data security: anonymizing data to protect individual privacy.
  • Content moderation: using filters to block inappropriate or harmful content.
  • Compliance: designing around regulations such as COPPA and GDPR.

The company also references several product safety and compliance standards or marks, including CE, ASTM, CCC, PSTI, UN38.3, IC, EN71, UL, FCC, RoHS, CPC, and related regional safety markings.

We always suggest treating connected AI toys with caution. BubblePal includes a microphone, connects to Wi-Fi, uses an app account, and is designed for children. That means parents should review the app settings, understand what data may be collected, supervise use with younger children, and avoid encouraging children to share highly sensitive personal information with any connected toy.

That said, in our hands-on testing, our safety concerns were more practical than content-related. BubblePal did not say anything scary, inappropriate, or obviously unsafe during our testing. Even when asked sensitive questions, it generally responded in a thoughtful and age-appropriate way.

We would still frame BubblePal as a supervised toy, not a babysitter, therapist, tutor, or replacement for parent-child conversations.

Used that way, BubblePal feels like a promising and relatively well-considered example of child-facing AI.

User, Blog, & Parent Sentiment

Because BubblePal is still a relatively new category of toy, long-term user feedback is still developing. However, the sentiment we found from early users, reviewers, and parent-focused discussions is fairly consistent with our own testing.

User sentiment

Early user sentiment is mixed but generally positive about the concept. Parents and reviewers tend to like the novelty, cute design, voice interaction, character options, and ability to attach BubblePal to different plush toys.

Common positive themes include:

  • Kids are intrigued by the toy.
  • The concept feels fresh and innovative.
  • The device is small and easy to attach to plush toys.
  • The voices and characters add personality.
  • It can answer many children's questions in an age-appropriate way.
  • It can make bedtime or quiet time more interactive.

Common complaints include:

  • Press-to-talk is less natural than hands-free conversation.
  • Speech recognition is not perfect.
  • Younger children's speech may be harder for the system to understand.
  • The device can feel like a version 1.0 product that still needs refinement.

Blog and reviewer sentiment

Reviewer sentiment is also generally positive but cautious. Many reviewers seem impressed by the idea of giving a child's plush toy an AI-powered voice, but they also point out the same limitations we noticed: speech recognition, latency, setup friction, and the fact that press-to-talk is not quite as magical as a fully natural conversation.

That aligns very closely with our hands-on experience. BubblePal is not perfect, but it is exciting. It feels like an early version of a product category that may become much more common over the next few years.

Parent sentiment

Parent reactions to AI toys tend to fall into two camps.

Some parents are excited by the possibility of a toy that can answer questions, support storytelling, encourage learning, and make a favorite plush feel alive.

Other parents are understandably cautious about connected microphones, AI conversations, data privacy, and whether children should form attachments to AI companions.

We think both reactions are reasonable.

After testing BubblePal, our view is that the product can be a fun, creative, and educational toy when used with parental awareness and reasonable boundaries. It is not something we would hand to a child without setup, supervision, or occasional check-ins. But as a supervised companion for storytelling, curiosity questions, and bedtime chats, it was much better than we expected.

Our Video Review

Here is our quick video review of the Haivivi BubblePal AI Companion Toy:

Things we Loved

Basically everything related to novelty, child engagement, plush design, and conversation quality.

We loved the Positive Panda plush. The panda is soft, adorable, and full of little details, including the bamboo accessory, cute paw pads, and weighted filling. It feels like a real stuffed animal your child would want to cuddle, not just a thin shell for a tech gadget.

We loved the concept. BubblePal turns a stuffed animal into an interactive AI companion. That sounds simple, but in practice it feels surprisingly magical when your child asks a question and the toy responds thoughtfully.

We loved the character options. The app includes more than 20 characters, each with a different voice and personality. That gives the toy more variety and allows parents to choose a character that fits their child's interests.

We loved the behavior customization. Being able to encourage curiosity, independence, reading, studying, trying new things, and other positive behaviors is a clever use of AI. We especially liked that parents can write their own custom encouragement prompt.

We loved the conversation quality. About 80% of the time, BubblePal gave responses that were relevant, thoughtful, and age-appropriate. It did especially well with curiosity questions, bedtime chats, and emotional topics.

We loved that it can attach to other stuffed animals. This is one of BubblePal's best design choices. Your child is not limited to Positive Panda. You can move BubblePal to a favorite stuffed dog, bear, bunny, or other plush toy.

We loved the bedtime experience. The soft glow, cuddly plush, and conversational interaction made BubblePal feel especially nice at bedtime.

Things to Improve

The response delay can feel long. In our testing, BubblePal often took about 10-15 seconds to respond after a child's prompt. Adults may tolerate that easily, but some children may lose interest while waiting. We think simple filler phrases would make the interaction feel more natural.

Speech recognition is not perfect. BubblePal usually understood our 9-year-old tester, but it occasionally misunderstood quiet speech, mumbled speech, or younger children's speech. When this happened, the response was usually harmless but irrelevant.

The 2.4GHz Wi-Fi requirement is important. Most families will be fine, but BubblePal will not connect to 5.0GHz Wi-Fi. If your router setup makes 2.4GHz connections difficult, setup could become frustrating.

The language switching issue was strange. On rare occasions, BubblePal switched from English to Chinese, especially after being powered off and used again later without the phone/app nearby. This did not happen often, but it was notable. We would love to see a language-lock setting during setup.

Overall, these are real cons, but they feel like early-generation technology issues rather than dealbreakers.

Conclusions

In conclusion, the Haivivi BubblePal is one of the most interesting and innovative children's toys we have tested.

Its biggest strengths are novelty, plush design, child engagement, conversation quality, character variety, app customization, and the ability to attach the BubblePal to nearly any stuffed animal.

We were especially impressed by how well BubblePal handled real children's questions. In our testing, it responded thoughtfully to questions about science, history, emotions, and even sensitive topics such as death. Most responses were age-appropriate, calm, and surprisingly nuanced.

That said, BubblePal is not perfect. The response delay can feel long, speech recognition is occasionally imperfect, younger children's voices can be harder to understand, and the device requires 2.4GHz Wi-Fi, an app, and account setup. We also encountered a rare issue where the language switched from English to Chinese after restarting the device.

But none of those issues changed our overall impression: BubblePal feels like a meaningful glimpse into the future of children's toys, and we were really excited to try it out!

Overall, we recommend the Haivivi BubblePal for families who are excited about AI-powered play, storytelling, and curiosity-driven learning, and who are comfortable supervising a connected toy that uses voice interaction and app-based customization.

It is not a replacement for parent-child conversation, and it is not something we would use without reasonable supervision.

But as a magical, cuddly, AI-powered companion for bedtime chats, learning questions, storytelling, and imaginative play, BubblePal is genuinely impressive.
