The Jartoo 2K baby monitor really impressed us with its solid lineup of features! If you're a parent on the hunt for a simple, no-fuss baby monitor that skips the added cost and complications of a WiFi app-based setup, this might just hit the sweet spot.
We loved the generous screen size and long-lasting battery, two big wins when you're juggling all the things that come with parenting. It also scored high marks for overall reliability and ease of use.
A couple of small things to keep in mind: we prefer a wider-angle lens, a wall mounting bracket and screws, a belt clip for the parent unit, and ideally a battery-operated camera (though you can use a portable battery pack in a pinch).
Here is our video-based review, which gives you a bunch of information in less than five minutes!

Unboxing the Jartoo 2K Baby Monitor
The baby monitor arrives in a sleeved box about the size you would expect, specifically 9" wide x 7" deep x 5" high.
The back of the box showcases what's included in the box:
Additional specifications not listed on the box:
- Camera dimensions: 5" H x 3" W x 3.75" D
- Camera specs: 1440p resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels), H.264 compression, 5V at 1.2A, 2x or 4x zoom, night infrared LED at 940nm, viewing angle 60 degrees.
- Monitor dimensions: 3.5" H x 7" L x 0.75" D
- Monitor specs: aspect ratio 16:9, 1440p resolution, 3600ft operating range (claimed), 5V at 2A
- Cord length: 60"
- Cord type: USB-A to USB-C
- Mount kit: None
- Battery: Rechargeable Li-ion polymer, 6000mAh, 3.7V DC
- Connectivity: 905-921MHz at 0.7dBi, 2000ft range.
It's worth pointing out that the charger plugs are relatively narrow, which allows you to plug both of them into the same outlet (or next to something else that it plugged in).
The camera, parent unit, and accessories are very well packaged and unlikely to be damaged upon arrival.
Here is everything that was in the box:
On the bottom of the camera is a wall mounting hole.
Unfortunately, there is no UNC tripod mount hole:
The back of the parent unit has a speaker and kickstand.
On the top edge, it has the volume button (we love that!), the power (long-hold) and sleep (quick tap) button, and the retractable antenna.
As expected, the camera and parent unit are made in China. The company that manufactures the baby monitor is called Shenzhen Umbra Technology Co., Ltd..
Pairing and Start-up
One unique feature of the Jartoo 2K baby monitor is its expandability of up to 4 cameras.
The cameras can be viewed picture-in-picture (split-screen) or cycled through in series (one after the next).
When we powered on the camera and parent unit, they immediately paired with each other. No delays or searching.
Additional cameras are a bit expensive, coming in at about $110 at the time of this writing.
Adding Additional Cameras
We added a second camera and it was surprisingly easy.
Enter the menu and choose the option that looks like a camera. Then select Add and press the PAIR button (on the bottom of the camera).
Here is a photo of the various parts of the camera:
Once paired, each camera will be shown with a number (1, 2, 3, etc).
We loved the ability to have the parent unit automatically cycle through each camera (every few seconds).
When both cameras are displayed simultaneously in split-screen mode, the large screen makes them relatively easy to see.
Overall, we thought pairing and setup were easy and intuitive. We appreciated the intuitive menu icons and adjustability.
Features we Loved
There were so many features to test!
Here are the main ones:
- Brightness & volume: There are 8 levels of brightness and 8 levels of volume. Both cover a good range.
- Zoom: The camera offers digital zoom levels of 1x (normal), 2x, and 4x. At 1x and 2x, the image stays fairly crisp, but at 4x things do get a bit pixelated. That’s totally expected with digital zoom - it’s a common trade-off across all baby monitors in this category.
- Panning: The pan and tilt range is seriously impressive. It tilts up and down by roughly 110°, and for side-to-side movement, it practically does a full 360° spin - great for keeping an eye on your little one no matter where they roll off to!
- Lullabies: You’ve got four lullabies to choose from, or you can just loop all of them to keep the soothing tunes going. The volume for the camera’s speaker is adjustable, so you can set it to just the right level for your baby’s comfort.
- Sleep mode: You can set the screen to turn off after 1, 2, or 5 minutes to save battery, while the parent unit stays on and listening. Prefer to keep the screen on constantly? There’s an Always On mode for that; just keep in mind that it’ll drain the battery faster, especially at higher brightness levels.
- Cry detection (VOX): This handy cry detection feature will wake up the screen, trigger an audible alarm, and light up the noise indicator LEDs when your baby makes noise. Sensitivity levels are adjustable: low, medium, and high, with high being the most sensitive. You can tailor it based on how vocal your little one tends to be.
- Two-way talk: Press and hold the microphone button on the parent unit and you can speak directly to your baby. In our testing, the audio quality was surprisingly decent, clear enough to soothe or chat without sounding too tinny.
- Feeding reminders: Need help staying on schedule? You can set feeding reminders to go off at regular intervals, like every 2, 4, or 6 hours. When it’s time, an audible alert will sound.
- Temperature sensor: This was surprisingly sensitive and accurate (according to our test thermometer), and can be displayed in F or C.
- Languages: Available languages are English, German, French, Italian, or Spanish.
All the features worked surprisingly well.
For convenience, we do wish the volume button would let you hold it down to change the volume rather than pressing the button multiple times.
You can't deny that the camera itself is adorable!
On the edge of a nearby bookshelf or dresser, the camera can peer down into a nearby crib.
Perfect!
The wall mount hole on the bottom of the camera is convenient if you plan on mounting to a wall or other nearby surface.
However, it unfortunately does not include any screws or brackets for wall mounting.
Overall, the Jartoo offers a nice set of features for even the most advanced users! Just as importantly, the features were very easy to use.
Day and Night Vision
One of the must-haves in a great baby monitor? Solid night vision!
Since most of your check-ins will happen in the dark, high-quality night vision is critical. Baby monitors use infrared lights paired with a camera to give you a clear view, even in pitch-black rooms; so you can keep an eye on your little one without flipping on any lights.
During the day, the display performed well in our tests. The color and contrast were both quite good. They weren't the absolute best we’ve seen, but definitely better than average. We’d place it somewhere in the top 25% compared to other monitors we’ve reviewed:
For the price, it's probably the best daytime clarity we've seen!
At night, the camera automatically switches to night vision with an audible click (from the parent unit, the camera doesn't click), displaying the image in shades of gray.
Here’s how the night vision appeared:
Pretty good and on par with some of the best baby monitors on the market!
Battery and Range
The 6000mAh battery definitely caught our attention—it’s a hefty capacity! But keep in mind, it’s powering a large 5.5" screen with crisp 1080p resolution, so naturally, that display draws a fair bit of power.
In our tests, the battery held up for about 17 hours with the screen on continuously at low brightness (using the Always On mode). That’s enough juice to get you from bedtime around 8pm to lunchtime the next day. Not bad at all!
Switch to standby mode (where the screen only turns on briefly every hour or so), and battery life jumps to around 24 hours. That’s decent, especially for parents who don’t want to be charging it constantly.
As for range, the antenna is rated for up to about 2000 feet. Note that the Amazon listing suggests 3600 feet of range, but that's unrealistic. The actual specifications for the system say 600m which is about 2000 feet.
Note that this range is in ideal, wide-open conditions (think: no walls, trees, or floors in the way). Unless you're monitoring your baby from the middle of a field, that’s not super realistic.
In our real-world testing, we were able to walk about 900 feet away from the house and still view the camera (see above photo). That's pretty impressive.
We were also able to view it without any issues across 3 levels of our home without any issues.
In our experience, that is on par with most other baby monitors. If you're looking for a more extended range, definitely consider a Wi-Fi-compatible baby monitor. For example, we recently posted a review of the Ellie Baby Plus baby monitor, which includes both a parent unit and app streaming.
Some Minor Cons
We encountered only a few minor drawbacks.
First things first; while the parent unit runs on battery (which is super convenient), the camera needs to be plugged in to work. So if there’s a power outage, the camera will go offline and the monitor won’t be able to show a live feed.
However, we do appreciate that the camera uses a USB-C power source, which means you can power it from a battery charging pack in a pinch.
Second, the parent unit lacks a belt clip and is somewhat bulky. It’s not likely to fit in your pocket (especially smaller pockets, like those on mom jeans!), so having a belt clip would have been a helpful feature.
Third, we prefer a wide-angle lens. The existing lens has a 60-degree viewing angle, which isn't as wide as we'd like.
Fourth, we recently reviewed the Momcozy BM03 baby monitor, and it included a wall mounting bracket and screws. We wish the Jartoo would also include those convenient accessories.
These are small issues, but they’re worth noting.
Conclusions
The Jartoo 2K baby monitor really surprised us, in a good way! With its large, high-resolution screen, intuitive features, strong battery life, and impressive range, it checks off a lot of boxes for parents who want a reliable monitor without the added complexity (and expense) of WiFi or app-based systems.
We especially loved the crystal-clear daytime video, solid night vision, wide pan and zoom, and AI-powered cry alerts. Add in handy extras like feeding reminders, a temperature sensor, and the option to expand to multiple cameras, and it’s easy to see why this monitor stands out in its price range.
Of course, it’s not without its quirks. We would’ve liked to see a wider-angle lens, a belt clip on the parent unit, and a wall mount bracket included in the box. And since the camera doesn’t have a built-in battery, you’ll need to keep it plugged in at all times, or use a portable power bank during outages.
That said, these are relatively minor trade-offs when you look at the full package. For parents seeking a dependable, feature-packed, and easy-to-use baby monitor that doesn’t break the bank, the Jartoo 2K is a strong contender, and one of the better non-WiFi monitors we’ve tested this year.
