A lightweight and surprisingly maneuverable and budget-friendly double stroller for everyday adventures.

We got our hands on the Jeep Destination Side x Side Double Ultralight Stroller to see whether this popular double stroller deserves all the attention it gets from parents of twins and siblings close in age.

Spoiler alert! There is a lot to like here. The Destination is relatively lightweight for a full-size double stroller, surprisingly easy to push and maneuver, narrow enough to fit through standard doorways, comfortable for two children, and much easier to fold and transport than its side-by-side design might suggest.

Let's see if it's worthy of a spot on our list of the best double strollers!

Full disclosure: Delta Children was generous enough to give us a sample stroller for testing. We do not believe, however, that this biased our review.

The Jeep Destination occupies an interesting spot in the double stroller market.

It is much more substantial than a basic umbrella-style double stroller, with large wheels, rear suspension, reclining seats, adjustable footrests, large canopies, bumper bars, and a sturdy aluminum frame.

At the same time, it avoids some of the biggest drawbacks of traditional full-size doubles. It weighs under 30 pounds, measures only 29.5 inches wide, folds relatively flat, and can stand on its own when folded.

That combination immediately caught our attention.

A side-by-side design usually gives both children a better and more equal seating experience than a tandem stroller, but the tradeoff is often width and bulk. The Destination attempts to solve that problem by squeezing two full seats into a frame designed to fit through a standard 30-inch doorway.

Based on the overall design, features, value, and our hands-on impressions, we give the Jeep Destination Side x Side Double Ultralight Stroller an excellent 4.7 out of 5 stars.

Most parents don't have time to read through an entire stroller review, so here's the quick version.

Overall, we think the Jeep Destination hits a particularly nice balance between size, weight, capability, and price.

Our favorite thing about it is that it doesn't really feel like a compromise stroller.

Many lightweight doubles achieve their low weight by using tiny wheels, minimal padding, small canopies, flimsy frames, and almost no suspension. The Destination feels much closer to a full-size everyday stroller, only without quite as much weight and bulk.

The biggest limitation is obvious: this isn't a newborn travel system.

You cannot click an infant car seat into either side, and Delta recommends waiting until approximately 6 months before using the seats. For twins or siblings who are already sitting independently, however, that limitation becomes much less important.

About the Jeep Destination Double Stroller

The Jeep Destination Side x Side Double Ultralight Stroller is made by Delta Children under the Jeep baby gear brand.

Delta Children has been making cribs, nursery furniture, strollers, bassinets, toddler beds, and other children's products for decades, while its Jeep-branded lineup tends to emphasize travel, durability, and outdoor-friendly designs.

The Destination is one of the more substantial conventional strollers in that lineup.

Unlike a stroller wagon, this is a true side-by-side stroller with two forward-facing seats, separate five-point harnesses, separate reclines, separate footrests, and separate canopies.

That makes it particularly appealing for twins and siblings who both still need a conventional stroller seat.

The design also avoids one of our biggest complaints about many tandem doubles: neither child gets stuck in a tiny lower seat, underneath the other child, or with a compromised view.

With the Destination, both kids basically get the same experience.

Hands-on Review of the Jeep Destination Double Stroller

We spent several days testing the Jeep Destination with two 3-year-old kids (one boy, one girl), using it around the neighborhood, through stores and doorways, across grass, over cracked sidewalks, and during normal everyday outings.

Our first impression was that this stroller is more substantial than the "Ultralight" name might suggest.

That isn't necessarily a bad thing.

The frame feels sturdy, the rear wheels are large, both seats have a generous amount of structure, and the double canopies give the stroller a full-size appearance.

At the same time, picking it up immediately reminds you that this is lighter than many premium double strollers.

Once we removed everything from the box, there were relatively few pieces to deal with.

The main stroller frame comes largely assembled, leaving the wheels and bumper bars as the primary components to attach.

That's a very strong feature list, especially considering that the Destination usually sits well below premium double strollers costing $500, $700, or even more.

Assembly

Assembly is refreshingly straightforward.

It takes about 5 minutes to open the box, remove the parts, and pop the wheels and bumper bars on. Easy peasy!

The stroller frame itself is already together, so most of the work involves attaching the wheels and bumper bars.

The wheels attach without tools, and we like that both the front and rear wheels can also be removed later.

That isn't something you will necessarily do every day, but it can make a meaningful difference if you're trying to squeeze the stroller into a small trunk or packed cargo area.

The individual bumper bars are also easy to install.

Once everything was attached, the stroller felt solid and ready to use.

Things We Loved

A few things about the Destination stand out immediately.

• It is remarkably narrow for a full-featured side-by-side double stroller.
• It is substantially lighter than many premium doubles.
• The steering feels much easier than its size suggests.
• The larger rear wheels give it a more substantial ride than umbrella-style doubles.
• Both children get equally good seats.
• The independent canopies provide excellent coverage.
• The fold is much more manageable than we expected.
• The individual bumper bars make loading and unloading children easier.
• The overall build feels sturdy without becoming excessively heavy.

The 29.5-inch width might be our favorite design detail.

Side-by-side double strollers have a reputation for being awkward indoors, and sometimes that reputation is well deserved.

But the Destination was specifically designed to fit through a standard 30-inch doorway.

The stroller fit easily through our standard front door, with a few inches to spare.

Specifically about 1-2" on each side:

That relatively narrow width makes a bigger difference in everyday life than it might seem on a specification sheet.

Getting into stores, restaurants, hotel rooms, bathrooms, elevators, and houses is much less stressful when you don't have to constantly wonder whether your stroller is going to fit.

Folding & Portability

Another pleasant surprise is how manageable the Destination becomes when folded.

The fold mechanism uses a safety release at the handle, after which the handle rotates forward and the frame collapses inward.

For a stroller of this size and capability, folding was surprisingly smooth and straightforward.

Like any stroller, it does take a little practice, but after a few attempts we had it down.

When folding, it collapses straight downward into a surprisingly compact footprint.

Once folded, the stroller measures approximately 29.5 inches wide, 30 inches long, and only about 13.4 inches thick.

It also stands upright on its own.

We always appreciate a standing fold because it makes a stroller much easier to store in a garage, mudroom, closet, or hotel room without laying the entire thing on the floor.

To unfold the stroller, we found ourselves releasing the lock on the side, pulling up on the handlebars, and using our foot to push down on the brake bar. After some practice, that seemed to be the easiest way to to it.

The built-in shoulder strap is another thoughtful touch.

To be clear, this is still nearly 29 pounds of stroller, so we wouldn't want to carry it over our shoulder through an airport terminal for half an hour.

But the strap is very useful for moving it up a flight of stairs, carrying it from the garage to the car, or keeping one hand free while wrangling children.

This is where we think the "Ultralight" name needs a little context.

At under 29 pounds, the Destination is not ultralight in the same sense as a 12- or 14-pound travel stroller.

It is ultralight for a full-featured double stroller.

That's an important distinction, but it's still an impressive accomplishment.

Seating, Comfort & Canopies

The side-by-side seating arrangement is one of the Destination's strongest features.

Both children get essentially the same seat, with the same view, the same canopy, the same leg support, and the same recline capability.

Each seat supports up to 50 pounds, giving the stroller a combined child capacity of 100 pounds.

Each seat gets its own five-point harness.

The shoulder straps are padded, and we like the small reflective details incorporated into the pads for better visibility during evening walks.

The bumper bars are especially well designed.

Rather than using one huge bar across the entire stroller, the Destination has an individual bar for each child.

Each bar can swing away independently, which makes it much easier to load one child without bothering the other.

Both seats also recline independently.

The recline uses a strap adjustment on the back of each seat, which isn't as elegant as the push-button or lever systems used by some premium strollers, but it works and allows each child to choose a different position.

That's especially useful if one child wants to nap while the other wants to sit upright and watch the world go by.

The footrests are also independently adjustable.

Again, that might sound like a minor convenience until you're pushing two children of different ages or sizes.

One child can stretch out while the other keeps their legs down naturally.

Note there is also a middle position.

The canopies are another highlight.

Each child has a completely independent canopy, so you can provide full shade on one side and leave the other open.

The canopies extend farther than we expected, and each includes an SPF 50 pop-out sun visor.

For long summer walks, vacations, zoos, and theme parks, that coverage is a major advantage.

There are also peek-a-boo windows that let you check on each child from behind the stroller.

The windows use large mesh panels, so they provide great airflow.

Ride Quality & Maneuvering

This is arguably the Destination's biggest strength.

Double strollers can get heavy and awkward very quickly, especially after you add 50 or 60 pounds of children.

The Destination's wheel setup helps considerably.

Up front, you get 7-inch swivel wheels that can be locked straight for rougher terrain.

At the rear are much larger 10-inch wheels with suspension.

Those larger wheels are one of the big reasons this stroller feels more substantial than a typical lightweight double.

We tested manueverability on:

• Smooth indoor flooring.
• Normal sidewalks.
• Cracked or uneven pavement.
• Grass.
• Packed gravel.
• Tight 90-degree turns.
• One-handed steering.
• Steering with different-weight children in each seat.

Based on the wheel design and the experiences reported by other owners, this is where the Destination has developed much of its reputation.

Parents frequently praise how smoothly it pushes and how easy it is to maneuver relative to its size.

And we totally agree! It was nimble, smooth, easy to steer, and can be maneuvered one-handed.

Of course, as your kids get larger and heavier, this will become more challenging - as with any stroller.

We would still stop short of calling it an all-terrain stroller.

The tires are not large air-filled jogging tires, and this isn't something we would choose for deep sand, snow, genuinely rough hiking trails, or running.

But for sidewalks, shopping centers, parks, zoos, paved trails, short sections of grass, theme parks, and typical family outings, the wheel setup looks very well matched to the stroller.

The parking brake is located between the rear wheels and controls both sides.

The parking brake is simple and intuitive to use.

Storage & Parent Convenience

Storage is one of the areas where the Destination is good rather than exceptional.

There is useful storage underneath the seats, and because the stroller is wide, you can fit quite a bit of everyday gear into the available space.

However, we wouldn't buy the Destination specifically for huge cargo capacity.

The frame and seat structure divide the available space more than on some large tandem strollers, and Delta's instructions are relatively conservative about how much weight should be carried underneath.

There are also handy pockets behind the seats for smaller items. They are integrated into roll-up flaps for ventilation, so if you have those rolled up, you lose the pocket functionality.

Those are useful for something like a phone, wipes, small toy, or snack.

What you don't get is a parent console.

There is no built-in parent cup holder, phone holder, or substantial organizer on the handle.

That's one of the most common things we would immediately add to this stroller.

A universal stroller organizer solves the problem inexpensively, but we still think some form of basic parent storage should be included at this price.

Travel & Theme Park Friendliness

The Destination isn't an airplane overhead-bin travel stroller, but it makes a surprisingly strong family travel stroller.

There are several reasons for that.

First, the relatively low weight makes it easier to lift into a vehicle than many full-size doubles.

Second, the flat fold is much more trunk-friendly than its open dimensions suggest.

Third, the removable wheels let you shrink the package further if necessary.

And fourth, the 29.5-inch width means you're much less likely to get stuck at doors, shops, restaurants, elevators, and hotel rooms.

The stroller fit easily into a midsize SUV (BMW X5), with plenty of room to spare:

This also looks like an especially good option for theme parks.

You get large sun canopies, room for two children, individual reclines for naps, decent storage, good pavement maneuverability, and a narrow enough footprint to work through crowds without feeling like you're steering a small bus.

Parents specifically mention using the Destination for Disney trips, which makes sense given its dimensions and overall design.

For air travel, we would plan to gate-check it rather than treat it as carry-on luggage.

What Other Parents Are Saying

Before reviewing a stroller, we always like to see whether our impressions line up with the experiences of parents who have been using it for months or even years.

In this case, owner sentiment is impressively positive.

One of the most consistent compliments is maneuverability.

Parents repeatedly describe the Destination as smooth and easy to steer, including when using it with two children of different sizes.

Another recurring compliment is doorway fit.

Multiple owners specifically mention that it fits through standard doors, which is important because that is one of the biggest concerns parents have when considering a side-by-side stroller.

Parents also frequently praise the fold and trunk friendliness.

We found reports from owners using it in sedans, smaller vehicles, stores, grocery trips, parks, trails, and Disney vacations.

Of course, online reviews aren't universally positive.

Some parents complain about squeaky wheels after extended use, while others wish the seat bottoms were deeper for larger toddlers.

But what struck us most was how consistent the big-picture feedback is.

The things that look good about the Destination on paper — manageable weight, narrow width, maneuverability, large wheels, easy folding, and good value — are largely the same things long-term owners seem to appreciate in everyday use.

Small Annoyances

No stroller is perfect, and there are several things we would change about the Jeep Destination.

First, there is no infant car seat compatibility.

This is probably the stroller's biggest functional limitation.

You cannot click a newborn infant car seat into either side, and Delta recommends the stroller seats starting at approximately 6 months.

Second, there is basically no dedicated parent console.

There is no included parent cup holder or substantial handlebar organizer.

Third, the storage basket isn't huge.

It is useful for normal outings, but parents who routinely carry a huge diaper bag, jackets, groceries, toys, and other gear might find it somewhat limiting.

Fourth, bigger toddlers may eventually run into seat-depth limitations.

The official 50-pound-per-seat capacity sounds extremely generous, but maximum weight isn't always the same thing as maximum comfort.

Depending on your child's proportions, leg and thigh support could become the limiting factor before you actually reach 50 pounds.

Fifth, occasional wheel squeaking comes up in owner reviews.

Delta's own care instructions recommend silicone- or graphite-based lubrication if the wheels begin squeaking, so this appears to be a known maintenance item rather than something completely unexpected.

We didn't experience any squeaking in our tests.

Overall, we don't consider any of these issues a deal-breaker.

But they're worth knowing about because the Destination gets so many of the big things right that the smaller details become more noticeable.

Overall Conclusions

The Jeep Destination Side x Side Double Ultralight Stroller is one of the more compelling affordable double strollers we've come across.

Its biggest accomplishment is that it combines the advantages of a side-by-side stroller with surprisingly few of the usual side-by-side drawbacks.

Both children get equally good seats.

Both get their own recline, footrest, bumper bar, canopy, and five-point harness.

Yet the entire stroller is only 29.5 inches wide, so it can fit through most standard doorways.

The 28.9-pound frame is also impressively light for a stroller with two full-size seats, 10-inch rear wheels, suspension, big canopies, and a 100-pound combined child capacity.

We especially like the wheel setup.

The combination of 7-inch swivel front wheels and 10-inch rear wheels gives the Destination a much more capable feel than most lightweight doubles, while the rear suspension helps take the edge off broken pavement and uneven surfaces.

The folding design is another major strength.

It folds relatively flat, stands on its own, and includes a built-in carrying strap. Being able to remove the wheels also gives parents another option when squeezing it into a packed trunk.

The biggest downside is that this stroller isn't appropriate as a newborn travel system.

No infant car seats attach to it, so families with newborn twins or a newborn sibling will need another solution until the younger child is ready for the regular stroller seat.

We would also love to see Delta add a parent organizer, a cup holder, and slightly more generous storage.

But those complaints feel relatively minor when we look at the overall package and low price.

The Destination gets the important things right: manageable dimensions, smooth steering, good child comfort, useful suspension, generous sun protection, practical folding, and a price far below many premium double strollers.

We think it is especially well suited for twins and siblings who are both at least 6 months old, families who want a side-by-side stroller that can still fit through ordinary doors, parents who frequently load a double stroller into the car, and families planning trips to zoos, amusement parks, Disney, shopping centers, or other places where maneuverability matters.

For those families, the Jeep Destination offers an unusually strong combination of capability and value.

Overall, we give it 4.7 out of 5 stars!
