A new boutique baby brand brought to you by Britax, Romer is making a big splash with their beautiful baby gear.

We put their new Tura stroller and Sera bassinet to the test and love what we found!

Full disclosure: Romer provided us with their new Tura stroller and Sera bassinet for testing, and we're very grateful (thank you!).

In our testing, we assembled it, tested all of its features, paired it with the Romer Juni car seat and Sera bassinet, and took it out for a day on the town!

Is it worth a spot in our annual best strollers or best travel systems list? Let's find out.

Romer Tura Stroller Review

Based on our hands-on reviews, we give the Romer Tura Stroller an impressive 4.7 out of 5 stars:

Overall Impressions

Most parents don't have time to read through this entire article, so here's a summary of what we found.

We were excited to get our hands on this new Romer stroller, and we were pleasantly surprised by the following aspects:

✔️  Britax reputation.
✔️  Easy assembly.
✔️  High build quality.
✔️  Beautiful aluminum frame.
✔️  Attractive vegan leather handle.
✔️  Beautiful fabrics.
✔️  Travel system compatibility.
✔️  Reversible toddler seat.
✔️  Fits many infant car seats.
✔️  Huge expandable canopy.
✔️  Adorable peek-a-boo window.
✔️  Huge airflow canopy window.
✔️  Three recline positions.
✔️  One-handed recline.
✔️  One-handed unfolding.
✔️  Comfortable seating & adjustments.
✔️  Adjustable footrest.
✔️  Surprisingly nimble & maneuverable.
✔️  Rear suspension.
✔️  Soft & comfortable ride quality.
✔️  Beautiful & cozy bassinet.
✔️  Bassinet has big airflow panel.
✔️  Bassinet is reversible.
✔️  Bassinet & stroller stand on own.
✔️  Bassinet has foot cover.
✔️  Juni car seat is reversible.

However, like with any review we write, we also had some little gripes worth mentioning:

❌  Finicky harness buckle.
❌  Relatively heavy.
❌  Two-handed fold.

Overall, the new Romer Tura is one of the best strollers we have ever tested, and we loved it even more when paired with the Sera bassinet!

We love its overall quality, beautiful materials, travel system compatibility, and maneuverable and smooth the ride is.

The cons are very minor and similar to most other luxury strollers and travel systems on the market. The only thing we didn't appreciate was the finicky harness buckle, which requires quite a bit of force to close.

About Romer

You may have heard about Romer in our review of the Romer Juni infant car seat, but we'll reiterate some of it here.

Romer is a boutique baby brand owned by Britax Baby, which is one of the best-known baby gear companies with a strong reputation for safety and quality. Originally, Römer was a German company founded in 1971, but then purchased by Britax in 1973.

Based in Fort Mill, South Carolina, Romer is situated right next to their parent company, Britax.

The primary differences between Britax and Romer products are their styling, luxury materials, and price. They tend to be a bit more expensive than Britax products, and most products are high-end variations of popular Britax products.

For example, the Romer Juni car seat is an adaptation of the Britax Cypress car seat, the Romer Tura stroller is an adaptation of the B-Ready stroller, and the Romer Sera bassinet is an adaptation of the Britax Zinnia bassinet.

Hands-on Testing

The new Romer Tura stroller has a ton of excellent features and accessories.

Full Feature & Accessory List

The Tura packs a serious set of features that are complemented by some accessories that you can purchase separately.

We think you'll be impressed with the full feature list:

✔️  5-point harness with shoulder pads.
✔️  Three-position reclining seat.
✔️  Adjustable leg rest (w/pram mode).
✔️  Huge storage basket.
✔️  Soft infant insert.
✔️  Recycled fabrics.
✔️  No-rethread harness.
✔️  Seatback storage pocket.
✔️  Massive UPF 50+ canopy.
✔️  Canopy extension panel.
✔️  Peek-a-boo window.
✔️  Easy sprint-loaded foot brake.
✔️  Locking front wheels.
✔️  Rear suspension.
✔️  Never-flat rubber tires.
✔️  Stands when folded.
✔️  Adjustable handlebar.
✔️  50-pound weight capacity.
✔️  44" height limit.
✔️  Removable bumper bar.
✔️  Reversible toddler seat.
✔️  One-year warranty.

As you can see, the Tura has nearly every feature you could look for in a stroller.

If it's not on the list, it might be sold as an accessory:

  • Juni infant car seat ($430, included in test).
  • Sera bassinet ($250, included in test).
  • Cup holder ($25, not included in test).
  • Rain cover ($60, not included in test).

We didn't notice any snack tray, riding board for a second child, or mosquito net. We do wish that it included the cup holder rather than it being an accessory. What's $25 between friends when you're already paying $750 for the stroller!?

Assembly

The Tura stroller itself is in one large box including the frame, wheels, toddler seat, canopy, and bumper bar.

If you purchase any accessories, such as the bassinet or rain cover, they'll be shipped separately.

When you take the Tura out of the box, it is protected in a nice white fabric bag.

In the box, you'll find the toddler seat, two front wheels, two rear wheels, two rear wheel fenders, and the bumper bar.

You will also find an owner's manual with assembly instructions that are relatively easy to follow.

You'll need to attach the rear fenders, rear wheels, front wheels, and the bumper bar. Everything snaps on easily - easy peasy!

We cover some of the assembly process in our review video, below.

Assembly only takes about 5 minutes, and no tools are required.

Here's what it looks like when fully assembled:

Looking good!

Things We Loved

A few things to notice:

First, the canopy is huge and provides excellent coverage from the sun and elements. Just unzip the canopy and reveal a huge extension that brings the coverage very far down over your child.

Here is what it looks like with the canopy fully extended:

Second, the lower storage basket is very large.

It does have an unfortunate support bar dividing it, but it can support up to a hefty 15 pounds of storage.

Here is a photo of it:

The matte black aluminum frame and vegan leather accents provide a premium look and feel.

Let's focus on a couple of additional features that we appreciate.

Third, all of the materials, including fabrics and adjustments, were very high quality and comfortable to use.

The seat and insert were very well padded, the recycled fabrics were soft and high quality, the handlebar was comfortable, the brake was surprisingly easy to use (we loved its spring-loaded feature).

Fourth, the ride is super smooth, owing to large diameter tires that help absorb bumps, and rear wheel suspension that does a great job keeping things smooth.

Car Seat Compatibility

While the romer Tura doesn't have very wide compatibility, it doesn't need an adapter for some of the best car seats available:

The attachment is very wide and easy to use, as shown below.

This makes attaching and detaching the toddler seat very simple. It also means that, if purchased, attaching the Sera bassinet or Juni car seat would also be very fluid:

Folding

The Tura has a fast and easy folding mechanism that folds the stroller relatively flat.

If you have the car seat or bassinet attached, you'll need to remove it first.

To fold the Tura stroller, use both hands to pull up on the stroller fold handles which are positioned just below the stroller handle. Then, push down on the handlebar until the frame lock engages. The frame lock is a small clip on the lower left side of the stroller.

Here is what it looks like when folded:

Notice how it stands on its own when folded - nice touch!

The top of the handlebar has a small rubber pad that prevents the handlebar from touching wet or dirty ground.

Once folded, there is no easy place to grab the stroller and pick it up. We don't recommend lifting from the bumper bar. We ended up need to use two hands, one on each side of the frame.

To open a folded Romer Tura stroller, simply unclip this clip on the left side:

Simply squeeze the stroller frame together a bit to loosen the clip and then push up to unlock it. Then grab the handlebar of the stroller and pull up to pop the entire stroller open.

Pro tip: To make sure the stroller is fully locked open, push down on the handlebar to make sure it doesn't collapse.

Ride Quality & Maneuvering

We loaded in an infant and took the Tura for a spin around the neighborhood.

We used the padded infant insert and extended the canopy to shield the summer sun.

We are happy to report that the ride was silky smooth owing to its soft rubber tires and rear-wheel suspension.

The stroller is also surprisingly easy to maneuver through doorways, up and down sidewalks and curbs, and down steps.

Even when loaded with an infant and a full basket of gear, the stroller remained sturdy and nimble.

We love the ride quality and maneuverability!

The Sera Bassinet

We also tested the beautiful Sera bassinet attachment.

As we said earlier, if you purchase the Sera along with the Tura, it is shipped separately:

Out of the box, it is very easy to set up.

In fact, there are simple instructions printed on the bottom of the mattress - very convenient!

Just like the Tura stroller, the Sera uses a beautiful recycled material fabric that is soft and durable.

A little bonus is a zip-open air vent that provides excellent airflow.

Notice how the bassinet stands on its own, which means you can pop it off the stroller and set it down inside your house for a nap.

The inside of the bassinet has plenty of space for taller and wider babies (the mattress is 29" long and 11" wide), with a maximum weight capacity of 20 pounds.

Romer says to stop using the Sera when your baby can push up on hands and knees.

Here is an infant in the bassinet - snug as a bug in a rug, while maintaining plenty of room for taller babies:

We attached the Sera to the stroller, which required no adapters.

The bassinet can be attached in a parent-facing position:

It can also be attached in an outward-facing position:

We recommend using the parent-facing mode, so you can keep an eye on your little one and easily reach inside when needed.

We then hit the road and took the Sera and Tura for a spin - and loved it! The baby fell asleep within a few minutes with the soft mattress and smooth ride.

A few things we loved: the zippered foot cover, peek-a-boo window, UPF 50+ canopy, and the beautiful styling.

Small Annoyances

No stroller is perfect (and we're picky!), so we always have some gripes!

We thought the Tura was a bit heavy, coming in at nearly 30 pounds. You'll have some serious biceps if you're lifting this stroller in and out of your vehicle every day.

When buckling the baby into the stroller, we were disappointed with the harness buckle. It's surprisingly difficult to buckle. Of course, it might become easier over time, but for a new $750 stroller we thought it was excessively difficult. We're assuming Romer will release a revision soon that will fix this little issue.

It's also expensive, coming in at around $1400 for the full travel system including the Tura stroller, Sera bassinet, and Juni infant car seat. We'll let you decide whether it's worth it, but in our opinion it's definitely good competition against the UPPAbaby Vista and Mesa combination (which is similarly priced).

Finally, some strollers have a true one-handed fold, such as the new Mockingbird stroller. But the Tura involves using both hands to release two fold locks. It's an easy fold process, but we wish it were one-handed. It would also be nice that, once folded, there were a way to easily grab and pick up/carry the stroller, such as a handle on the top or side.

Another small point is that the foot rest needs to be in a relatively upright position to work with the folding mechanism. If it's folded down when the stroller is folded (to get it out of the way for carrying and stowing), the stroller can't unfold.

Outside of those little concerns, we were very impressed with this beautiful new Romer Tura (and the Sera bassinet too, which we had no gripes about)!

Overall Conclusions

In summary, the Romer Tura stroller and Sera bassinet offer a luxurious and high-quality experience that impresses with style, comfort, and thoughtful features.

While the stroller has a few minor drawbacks, such as the finicky harness buckle and the relatively heavy weight, these issues are overshadowed by the overall exceptional performance, smooth ride, and versatile design.

For parents seeking a premium stroller (and travel system!), the Romer Tura provides a very compelling option that combines beauty with functionality, making it a strong contender in the high-end stroller market.

We look forward to seeing what's next for Romer!
